What’s your bucket list?

We watched The Bucket List last Sunday evening. I wasn’t sure what to expect, considering that it stars Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Yes, there were laughs. What movie with Nicholson in it won’t have laughs?

But there was a lot more. Indeed, I was impressed that Nicholson was willing, actually, to be serious and, even, subtle. There were some very poignant scenes.

But I was most impressed with the entire premise of the movie: What do you want to do before you “kick the bucket”?

The two men in this film begin their pursuit of the bucket list with high frivolity and some deep temptation to pursue less than honorable goals. But something happens–no spoilers on this site!–to bring them to a very different set of pursuits toward the end.

And the moral ending (not quite the movie’s full conclusion) had me in tears as Nicholson fulfilled his stated goal of kissing “the most beautiful woman in the world.”

How beautiful that a goal stated in lecherous terms could morph so dramatically!

I mention this movie here, however, not even, ncessarily, to get you to watch it (though I imagine you will enjoy the experience). Rather, I want to encourage you to get thinking about your “bucket list”–as I’m realizing I need to think about mine.

Willing to share any ideas?

What do you want to do before you kick the bucket?
